In Sanskrit and Hindu philosophy, Sankalpa and Nirman are two distinct concepts that represent the progression from an inner idea to its physical creation. Together, they describe the journey of manifestation—moving from a sacred intention to concrete building or formation.
- Yogic Practice: In practices like Yoga Nidra, a Sankalpa is a short, positive phrase stated in the present tense (e.g., “I am at peace”) used to reshape the subconscious mind.
- Ritual Significance: In Hindu traditions, a Sankalpa is the introductory vow taken before a puja (prayer ritual) or yagya. The practitioner states their name, location, and specific purpose to align their mind with the ritual.
- Material World: It refers to building tangible objects, such as infrastructure, art, or houses.
- Abstract World: It can mean building abstract structures, like organizing a new business, creating a policy, or shaping a society.
